There are some very distinct trends making their presence known in event designs this season. The first and foremost is Pantone’s Colour of the Year: Greenery!
This particular yellow-green colour is being embraced by designers as a strong accent, and even as the primary colour for their designs. It’s a modern and non-traditional idea that will be seen in many events this season. Not only is the colour being embraced, but the concept of incorporating greenery is especially strong. Some of the ways we’re working Greenery into events includes silk floral arches, event grass carpeting and green centerpieces featuring leaves, vines and mosses.
Trees and Branches
Playing off Pantone’s colour of the year is a trend that’s been around for a while, but is really picking up steam this season. Using trees and tree props in event decor brings in the feeling of nature, and gives a charming twist to elegant decor.
We recently added to our Manzanita tree collection to expand the options available to clients who have increasingly been asking for these additions to their design. We now offer white, silver and natural manzanitas in various sizes to accommodate this beautiful trend, and these can also be painted to fit the style of any event. We also see a lot more branches being used to create a rustic aesthetic, and have requests for cherry blossom trees and wishing trees, all of which we offer.

It’s been a busy winter here at FOS, and we look forward to an event busier spring! Now that the ice is beginning to thaw, here’s a bit of a recap of what our team has been up to over the last few months.
Our team put together a beautiful booth at the WedLuxe show back in January. If you were there, we hope you had a chance to stop by and say hi! If you weren’t you should consider putting the show on your radar for next year, because it’s a fantastic way to see what Toronto’s best wedding vendors are capable of, and to learn a bit more about the teams behind the companies.
For our booth we brought to life a ‘vintage Paris’ theme, incorporating a romantic floral arch with hanging crystals, a cascading floral table runner, white furniture, gold cutlery, a purple floral print vinyl floor and our carousel horse prop. We also gave away a $1000 wedding decor gift certificate, which was won by Vanessa Chiaravalloti.
Best Lighting Nomination
For the second year in a row, FOS is proud to announce that we’ve been nominated in the category of “Best Lighting Design for an Event” for the Canadian Special Event Industry Awards. We took the prize in the same category last year, adding it to our 5 other CSEIA wins for various categories over the past few years.
The event we were nominated for took place at Blue Mountain Resort, and incorporated a number of strong lighting techniques. To set the scene we laid LED lights in the lawn leading up to the tent, then colour-washed the event space to create a vibrant base, layered on colour-rotating uplights to provide contrast, and finished it all off with glowing crystal chandeliers.
Wish us luck on a second win a row!
