FOS shoots for the Star Awards

For the fourth year in a row hard work and creativity has earned FOS multiple nominations at the annual Canadian Special Events (CSE) Star Awards. This year FOS is nominated for 2 awards: “Most Outstanding Event Under $100K”, and “Best Theme Decor $25,000-$40,000”. The winners will be announced later this week at a special awards gala that concludes CSE Expo 13, an annual special events conference in Toronto.

Most Outstanding Event Under $100K

FOS’ nomination in this category was for our incredible 2012 Euphoria Open House event. The annual FOS Open House is a massive fully-catered, open-bar party for our industry partners, friends, and clients. Last year’s Open House, titled “Just shy of a black tie”, eclipsed the dark sophistication of Mad Men with the glitz of a Las Vegas hotel. These two themes were divided into separate spaces connected by a tunnel of sheer white fabric and violet uplighting.

In the “Crystal Room” custom white vinyl flooring, a custom crystal ceiling and contemporary furniture set the scene for a posh cosmopolitan party, which was enhanced by white draping and illuminated by a custom lighting production team. For entertainment, guests enjoyed a live 15-piece band, Rockstar photobooths, ballet dancers, a 6-piece drum performance, mime dancers, and a live DJ hung 15ft in the air. In the dark “Oyster Room” we shucked and served fresh oysters with shots of premium Grey Goose vodka.

Natalie and Dave’s wedding was one of the year’s most fulfilling projects. Designed by Raviv, our VP of Sales and Design, this event was not only the “elegant, warm with a touch of funk” design the bride wanted, but also required our team to execute 2 different designs (ceremony and reception) in one room, with only 40 minutes to ‘flip’ the space. Both rooms were fully draped with custom white vinyl flooring, and used our Kartell Louis Ghost Chairs for guest seating.

For the ceremony space, key design features included a custom canopy with hanging candles and large two-tier floral arrangements with staggered hanging tea lights stationed every 10 feet along the aisle.

For the reception we used both round and rectangle tables. Each round table was covered in our Candle Light Glow linen and a custom designed Italian lace overlay, and topped with a funky custom acrylic column centerpiece decorated with green Dutch hydrangeas at the base and a large arrangement of roses, hydrangeas and orchids at the top. To mix it up, we used Evening Mauve linens on the rectangle tables and crystal candelabras as the centerpieces. The bride and groom sat on crystal-studded thrones behind a 24 ft floral centerpiece that stretched across the head table and cascaded down on both ends. Our design even showcased the wedding cake with a custom cake table dressed in the round table linens and covered with hydrangeas and orchids.
