Jungle Fever and Cool Miami Nights

As usual FOS is gearing up for a busy and eventful summer wedding season! While we’re extremely excited to make dreams come true for our blushing brides and grooms, we’re also still celebrating two incredible events for two incredible young clients.

Here’s a look at how FOS made Sierra’s Bat Mitzvah and Jonathan’s Bar Mitzvah into memorable life experiences for their friends and family.

Sierra’s Bat Mitzvah: Sierra Park

Feeling a little wild at heart, Sierra wanted a Jungle-inspired Bat Mitzvah, and our creative team was happy to oblige. We put together a stunning design using elegant table decor, props and florals that transformed the space into an overgrown world with surprising detail.

To create this incredible jungle we filled the room with lush, tropical silk foliage, palm trees, vinyled bars and fun animal props. Grounding the design were emerald sequin table linens, gold oyster charger plates, and vine-wrapped gold satin napkins. We also created custom moss-covered table numbers, used wood-cut trivets for the tables, and draped the room in green velour that worked with the lighting to create a dark jungle glow.

Jonathan’s Bar Mitzvah: JBar

Taking a cooler approach to his big day, Jonathan wanted his guests to enjoy VIP treatment at an exclusive upscale Miami nightclub he called JBar. Every lucky attendee (with a VIP access-pass invitation, of course) started their night by walking across a red carpet and through gold railings to the Miami event space.

The ‘club’ was cool and chic, using a mix of silver and black sequin linens, silver and black oyster charger plates, and clear ghost chairs. The simple but beautiful centerpieces used floating candles in glass vases with submerged orchids to bring in a subtle tropical influence while keeping the decor light and elegant. The occasional tall palm tree prop achieved the same!

Other unique aspects of this event were the black lounge space, custom JBar vinyling for the bars, towering green and white floral vignettes, and modern club lighting to keep the energy up

Our team had so much fun planning and executing these two events! They both required a lot of style and creativity to pull off, and our clients were thrilled with the results.

We’d like to congratulate to Sierra and Jonathan, and thank them for letting us be a part of this momentous occasion in their lives!

Underwater Bar/Bat Mitzvah

Last weekend FOS pulled off an incredible Bar and Bat Mitzvah for two siblings that love the sea. The complex decor explored the ocean’s diversity of colour and texture, taking guests on an underwater journey that began with a beach-inspired entrance, and coasted through an immersive underwater event space.

At the beach

Guests began their evening in a beach-themed lobby with a tiki hut, decaled bars and a sleek black lounge space. The decor was minimalistic, and consisted of scenic backdrops and bar decals, palm trees, and surfboard seating.

Under the sea

After enjoying a drink with friends, guests were submerged into the main event space, which was designed to explore the ocean depths.

Every table had a starfish table number on a twine-wrapped base, with colourful table linens and matching chair covers. Half of the centerpieces consisted of painted Manzanita “corals” with hanging ornaments – fish, seahorses, octopuses, etc. – on a mossy green base with seashells. The rest of the centerpieces consisted of water and coral filled glass vases with live swimming fish, topped with an arrangement of hanging amaranthus, red coral and sword fern that looked like sea grass, with a mossy green base decorated with seashells.

Oceanic backdrops lined the room and became the canvas for our artistic team. Working in from the backdrops, we set up decaled bars and food stations, each sporting its own underwater scene.

Around the floor of the room we created three dimensional reef vignettes made of seahorses, moss, and painted manzanita trees to give the scene dimension and texture.

From the ceiling we hung a massive great white shark prop, and strung up clusters of jellyfish made from iridescent material and light fabrics that caught the air and shimmered as if floating gently by.

We completed the scene with a light white lounge area that popped against the vibrant colours of the rest of the room. The lounge featured white sofas and ottomans, Manhattan coffee tables, and square glass votives filled with blue fish tank pebbles, small shells, a bright white LED light and red manzanita branches painted to look like coral.

With such a fun, unique concept to work our team was incredibly inspired throughout the entire design process leading up to this event. Our range of artistic talent was given a chance to shine, and our clients were thrilled with the creativity and level of detail we were able to achieve for this momentous event.

Bat Mitzvah in Wonderland

Last month FOS had the pleasure of being a part of a very special young lady’s first adventure in adulthood. This incredible “Alice in Wonderland” themed Bat Mitzvah was designed and managed top-to-bottom by FOS Creative Director Miki Klevan and his team at FOS, who truly embraced the wacky, whimsical creativity of Alice’s imagination.

The fantasy land

To immerse guests in Wonderland, we brought the wild fantasy world to life through key decor elements. These included a custom checkered vinyl dancefloor that stretched across the entire centre of the room and multi-level stage, custom decaled bars, fog projections, sophisticated lighting systems, live animals and much, much more. To set the scene for a wild celebration, the walls were also lined with custom panoramic rainforest themed backdrops and green foliage rivaling a Hollywood set design.

Magical table settings

One of the most important features of the room’s decor was the table settings, where over 300 guests sat down to an incredible feast prepared by celebrity chef Susur Lee.

To decorate six long tables, our floral team created towering centerpieces of flowering trees and vines lit from below by large floating candles. Cork vessels spilling over with cabbage flowers, mosses and berries linked the centerpieces along the middle of each table, creating a flow of rainforest treasures that kept the magical mood strong all night long.

For the round tables we filled our glass Garnier vases with moss, vines and butterfly decorations, and topped them with robust floral arrangements that included green and pink hanging amaranthus, hypericum berries and a variety of pink roses and carnations.

All of the tables were covered in our new black caviar linens, and set with our signature gold Oyster charger plates inlaid with a printed copy of the night’s eclectic menu. We also wrapped our Kiwi satin napkins in vines, laid out woodcut trivets, and repurposed mini antique clocks as table numbers. In a nod to the Mad Hatter’s infamous tea party, each place setting also had a unique china tea cup for the night’s tea service.

Fairytale fun

While the decor was a mind-blowing tribute to the story that has captured imaginations for over a century, equally as impressive was the night’s entertainment, which FOS also arranged. Key aspects included a massive menorah ice sculpture, Wonderland character actors, a unique “Bubble Show”, a casino room, a graffiti wall, and a parade of animals, including a lion, a lemur, a kangaroo and a horse, which the birthday girl rode in to the event.

An incredible night

The entire team here at FOS had so much fun planning this intensely creative event, which we’re incredibly proud of. Every time the guests settled in to their delight, a new surprise took them further down the wonderland rabbit hole, as FOS pushed the boundaries of the imaginable.

We wish the birthday girl a very happy Bat Mitzvah, and we look forward to working with her and her family again in the future.
